BVI Stronger | Episode 6

This video features stunning visuals and moving testimony from locals about the rebuild and recovery of the British Virgin Islands. The BVI Stronger team details how easy and rewarding it was for them to come vacation after Hurricane Irma.

The team shows off all the wonderful sights they visited with the help of local charter companies. Their travels included Tortola, Norman Island, Jost van Dyke, and Virgin Gorda. They also feature some amazing comparisons of the islands immediately after Irma and months later to highlight the progress.

Another great feature of the trip was their ability to volunteer their time and get directly involved in the rebuilding efforts. With the help of All Hands and Hearts, they worked hard to aid in the reconstruction of Elmore Stoutt High School. Whether your vacation is for 5 months or 5 days, you can make an impact.

Above all, they highlight all the local businesses and attractions that are waiting for you. Schedule your vacation now and help in the recovery.

Christmas in July 2018

It was once again time for Christmas in July thanks to sponsors like Wally Castro Marine and Dream Yacht Charter! Thousands of people flooded the beach at Pond Bay to celebrate. The event started in 2007 and attracts a fleet of boats from Puerto Rico for fun in Virgin Gorda. The celebration is held to recognize the valuable contribution Puerto Ricans make the BVI.

The event featured two Latin bands, one local band, and a host of DJs, as well as designated swimming areas, food stalls, and games. Thanks to the Puerto Rican Navy! After Hurricane Irma they were the first to respond with much needed relief efforts and supplies. BVI and Virgin Gorda will always be grateful for our close relationship with Puerto Rico and we look forward to celebrating you every year!

Update on Taddy Bay Airport, Virgin Gorda

The BVI Airports Authority hereby informs the travelling public that we are diligently working towards re-opening the Taddy Bay Airport, Virgin Gorda by the middle of September 2018.

We have thus far sourced a rapid intervention fire fighting vehicle out of the United States which is currently being refurbished to meet our regulatory requirements. Two technicians from the Authority are currently in South Carolina overseeing the refurbishment of the vehicle and are also gaining practical experience on the operation thereof.

Additionally, arrangements are being made to resurface the runway in preparation for the arrival of the new fire vehicle, and plans for a new building to house the said vehicle have already been approved by the Town and Country Planning Department.

We endeavor to keep you, the public, apprised of the development at the Taddy Bay Airport and a further update will be given in August.

The BVI Airports Authority apologizes for any inconvenience caused due to the closure of the Taddy Bay Airport and thank you, the public, for your indulgence as we seek to ensure that safety is maintained at all times.
